After an auction house transaction volume of prolly 8 million gold with wotlk gems only, i think it is time to share some personal experience. I'll tell you, what the best selling gems are and much more important, where the greatest profit is possible. We all know, a runed cardinal ruby is sold very often. But due to high competition, it is not the best red gem for profit.
I reccomend doing wide spread mixed calculations, when putting cut gems into the AH. But if you don't have every recipe or at least many of them, then just look at my list and buy the designs accordingly.

Thanks for the list, tried it in my economy and made some decent cash. Also added Relentless Earthsiege Diamond to my own list, purchased raw for 30g, sells for 60g.

I also find that ember skyflare and austere earthsiege are excellent sellers.

Not to nitpick, but you're talking about the 30 stam Solid Majestic Zircon and the 23 SP Runed Cardinal Ruby, right? There arn't any 20 stam or 20 spell power gems that I'm aware of.

But this is a great list, I've been considering getting into the JC market for some time now.

Very much appreciated Kumiko, I had been trying to find a decent Dreadstone cut for ages now. I tried the Balanced cut (20 Atk + 15 Stam) for a while, however it sold very sporadically, if at all, and as you are no doubt very aware epic gems posting costs are a real pain.

I was actually at the point of just selling the raw gem like I do with Eye of Zul but after reading your post I decided to try the Purified Dreadstone (12 spell power + 10 spirit). I cut 3 last night, an lo and behold they all sold out. Thanks again mate.

Nightmare Tear is also a good one, sold for close to double my investment. Mats cost ~110g and they sell for ~200g.

I cant sell Purified Dreadstones easily on my server. Funny that I use a lot of those myself, I have 2 raiding Priests, yet nobody buys them on the AH.

The reds move the fastest followed by the yellows. The 20 Int gem can sometimes have a lot on the AH and the price down to 150 gold each. Other times I've gotten as high as 225 gold. 23 Spell Power can fluctuate in price a lot but I always get at least 175g. Blues sell really well, primarily the 30 stam but i also sell 20 spirit sometimes. Purples and Oranges are hit or miss and sometimes take multiple AH listings to get them sold. I can't hardly give away any green epic gems.

Just started using LilSparky's Workshop to see what all the fuss is about. It is actually pretty useful and saved some time. I play the auction house the old school manual way, I don't rely on Auctioneer much for anything except to sort by price per unit. Do a scan with Auctioneer for the prices and this addon will add some info on your tradeskill window telling you which items are profitable by calculating buyout price minus material cost, something I do manually or sometimes with a spreadsheet. Saves some time by seeing which cuts are more profitable once you buy your raw gems.

Kumíko, I can't thank you enough for geting me back into the JC market. That list got me started and now I can't stop making gold, it's just so profitable and easy! I had given up on prospecting and jc for a while after the whole epic gem patch, made my money and walked away. Recently some of my other professions aren't as profitable as they used to be, JC has really saved the day.

I totally agree, I've just passed the 100k mark, mainly thanks to JCing
