I know how you feel, I've been pusing for the gold cap and I'm getting burnt out towards the end. I'm hovering around 185k and easily over gold cap if you count my inventory that I still need to sell. The gold has been rolling in faster than ever though. Really looking towards some epic gold sinks in Cataclysm.

I managed to find a lot of cheap saronite ore the last couple nights so that has me more inclined to babysit my auctions. I don't know what these sellers are thinking to sell saronite ore below vendor value, which works out to 12.5 a stack of saronite ore since the saronite bars vendor at 25g a stack. I picked up 100 stacks of saronite ore at 10.5g each and should make 100%-120% return by smelting and transmuting to titanium bars and then selling. I picked up another 300 stacks at 12.4g each.

Also, I have had better luck moving items between factions, which really helps getting mats cheap and selling stuff for top dollar. Previously someone would camp the neutral AH snagging stuff.

Thanks guys for chiming in on my thread.

Gem prices went to crap this past weekend. Cut cardinal rubies as low as 120g each. I decided to sit on my gems and see if the prices get better with tomorrow's reset. I'm sitting on about 40 cardinal rubies and a few of each of the other colors.

With my shopping spree for my alts over I hit a low of 38k gold, after hitting a high of 95K a couple days before. I've rebuilt up to 45K and I am adding at least 1k per day. At that pace I will hit 200k sometime in October.

I found a new way to make gold that is more fun than camping the AH and is fairly quick too. Our realm has a lot of GDKP pugs running ToC 25. I'm not sure how common these runs are so I'll briefly explain the concept.

The basic idea of GDKP runs are every item of loot will be given to the highest bidder after each boss kill. Typically starting bids are at least 300g with tier trophies a little higher. The bidding is done in raid chat and usually happens quickly. Bids after the initial bid must be at least 100g higher than the last bid. Items that get no bids are held until the end of the raid and offered at a lower starting bid. When all the loot is gone at the end of the raid all the gold accumulated from the bids is split evenly between all the raiders. So finishing one of these runs you'll get at least 1/25 of the gold but often a couple people will drop early so you might get 1/24, 1/23 etc.

These runs need 2 types of characters. First there needs to be characters that need gear and have a pile of gold to buy items. Second, there needs to be enough well geared toons to carry the raid. They are there for the gold at the end.

I've done 3 of these runs so far and always with my best geared toon. The first run there was a ton of gold brought in, 40k or so, as tier trophies got bid up to over 1k each and there were 2 trinkets that went for 10k and 8k. The run had no wipes and the whole thing took about 1 and a half hours. I walked out with 1,800 gold as well as 15 triumphs to buy some more uncut gems for future sale. From what I have heard and seen in my other two runs, 40k is much higher than the typical ToC GDKP run.

The second run didn't bring in much gold, around 10k total, and I only got about 400 something gold at the end. But, I bought a BoE ring for 600 gold that I sold on the AH within a couple days for 2500 gold. After the AH cut I profited about 2,200g including the 400g from the run but not including the 15 triumphs. This run had a few wipes so it took about 2 hours.

The third run also didn't bring in that much gold and I only got 500g at the end. I bought a tailoring pattern for 400g so net i walked away with 100g and the pattern along with 15 triumphs. I haven't been able to sell the pattern yet but I should get at least 1500g for it. After the AH cut and adding in the 500g from the run I should net about 1400g. The raid had one wipe so it was a little less than 2 hours. Good profit for the time spent, assuming the pattern sells.

I'm back up to 65K. I'm averaging almost 2K a day but I had some Primordial Saronites to sell that helped that average. I've been selling cut cardinal rubies at the new low prices of aroun 130g a gem. That sucks compared to what I was getting before but I'm still making gold.

Unrealted to gold making, I started an extra account to get the new 2 seater rocket. Last night I was bored and flew a level 1 toon all around Northrend getting experience from discovering new zones. The toon hit level 10 when I finished Northrend.

Up to 85K after the holiday weekend. Along with the continued selling of cut gems, titanium and titansteel bars I have been doing some dailies and quests I had passed over when leveling my main. I also bought 5 of the Argent Tournament pets and put them up for sale on the other faction's AH. I should make roughly 3K for some champion seals I wasn't likely to ever need for anything. In total I'm averaging an increase of 2500 gold a day.

I hit 100k last night. I'm not making as much gold in the AH as I used to so I am supplementing with some dailies and Icecrown quests I never got around to doing.

Grats on the 100k mark. Are you still going for more?

I think I'll shoot for 200k to 250k before Cataclysm.

My main goal in the game now is to get in a more hardcore raiding guild than what I am in now.

That's a good amount. Let's hope the beta is out soon so we can find out how much things will cost. I can't wait to see the new gold sinks.

Yes, I fear the inflation factor that the new expansion brings. There's no telling how much the purchasing power of today's gold will decline. The first clue will likely be the gold received in quest rewards as well as the vendor price of trash drops and greens. I am thinking the worst we get will be about 50% inflation and if it is only 25% or less I'll be happy.

I slowed down on banking gold to bank mats for leveling in Cata. I've got a lot of herbs for flasks and potions. If they don't end up being used I think they will appreciate in value. Well, at least everything but the stacks of Frost Lotus. I've also banked hundreds of stacks of ore, primarily Saronite, that I think will also appreciate. I have a lot of enchanting mats, mainly Northrend, but for a variety of enchanting levels.

What I'm sketchy about is all the fish I've banked for buff food. When ever I level a character, and especially at the start of an expansion, I am always fully buff including flask and food buffs. I'm afraid fish will lose a lot of value instead of appreciating if I don't end up using them.

I've been hunting around the internet for ideas of what mats are likely to appreciate in Cata but I haven't found much info. There's still plenty of time so I intend to have 250K of gold and hopefully another 100K or more worth of mats that will grow in value.
